The 13th Ship Recycling Congress will be a leading two-day gathering dedicated to the sustainable evolution and regulatory future of the global ship recycling sector. Hosted in Rotterdam on 15–16 April 2026, the event will unite ship owners, cash buyers, brokers, recycling yards, policymakers, and industry experts to address the critical developments shaping end-of-life vessel management. The congress will focus on strengthening responsible recycling practices, improving environmental and safety performance, and enabling the industry to adapt to rapidly changing compliance expectations driven by global sustainability goals and the circular economy.

Advancing Sustainable Recycling Practices. The event will explore how ship recycling can continue raising global standards through improved compliance, safer operational procedures, and environmentally sound dismantling methods. Discussions will highlight the implementation of the Hong Kong International Convention, the alignment with EU regulations, the evolution of IHM requirements, and the growing demand for transparency and certification across the recycling chain.

Regulatory & Implementation Challenges Impacting the Industry. A major component of the congress will focus on the impact of the Hong Kong Convention’s entry into force and the regulatory adjustments required across the international ship recycling community. Stakeholders will examine the complexities of aligning global standards, adapting to new compliance obligations, upgrading yard capabilities, and ensuring consistent enforcement across different regions.
