The preliminary results of the new BIMCO/ICS Manpower Report 2015 (published every five years since 1990) revealed that majority of seafarers are satisfied with their life at sea. However, the maritime industry has a long way to go in overcoming key human resource & crew management challenges as the human element in shipping is becoming an increasingly important factor not only in ensuring the commercial success of shipping companies and reaching higher standards of sustainability and safety, but also to protect the future of world trade. In response to this, The IMO has focused its attention on the quality of maritime education and training this year and marked 25th June as the ‘Day of the Seafarer’ to acknowledge seafarers’ significance for the maritime community, so it is imperative that leaders in this field keep abreast of the changes in the industry towards higher standards of training to not only meet the requirements for STCW Convention’s Manila amendments’ deadline for final implementation, but also to go beyond regulatory requirements in keeping up with the latest technological advancements such as industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and digital recruitment methods to name a few.
To provide solutions to key challenges faced by the industry, ACI’s 18th Maritime HR & Crew Management will provide a unique platform to bring together leaders in the industry in a peer-to-peer learning environment to discuss and provide solid solutions to tackling the issues faced by shipping companies, manning agencies and regulatory bodies. Through case studies, informative presentations, panel discussions and intimate networking sessions, the event will provide attendees with insights into best in class strategies in seafarer training, recruitment and retention, crew welfare in a cost effective manner, in moving towards a safer, more secure and efficient shipping industry to meet the demands of international trade and business bottom-line.
More speakers to be announced shortly.
If you would like to be considered as a speaker for the event with a 30-45 minute presentation, please submit an abstract for consideration to:
