ACI’s Hydrogen & Fuel Cells Energy Summit will be taking place in Brussels, on the 24th & 25th January 2018. The two day event will bring together key industry stakeholders from all facets of the hydrogen industry to discuss the required economical and infrastructural innovations for a sustainable future energy carrier. The key discussions will involve monetisation, latest technologies implementations, material optimisation, production and transportation.

The main objectives of the industry are to:

  • Reduce the production cost of fuel cell systems
  • Increase the electrical efficiency and the durability of the different fuel cells used
  • Use H2 to support renewable energy source integration

The sector has involved already an important number of energy end-use agents, from electric vehicles to power plants.

In the afternoon of Tuesday 23rd January 2018, a conference delegation will receive a unique opportunity to visit the HYDROGENICS production plant of water electrolysers and the COLRUYT Hydrogen refuelling station for hydrogen electric cars and hydrogen forklifts with onsite water electrolysis using wind energy. The places are limited and subject to approval by Hydrogenics. As the places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis, please confirm your interest when booking your spaces.

Site Visit A: HYDROGENICS – Production plant of water electrolysers and hydrogen refueling stations

Hydrogenics manufactures in Oevel water electrolysis and turnkey hydrogen refueling stations solutions since 1987. The Belgian production site counts +/- 75 employees for the production of 35-50 projects per year. During the visit, the participants will have the opportunity to see the complete manufacturing of water electrolyser systems: cell stack, gas separation, water purification, power conditioning, hydrogen purification, hydrogen compression, hydrogen storage, refueling station and a presentation by Hydrogenics about their vision of the fast evolving renewable hydrogen market.

Site Visit B : COLRUYT – Hydrogen refueling station for hydrogen electric cars and hydrogen forklifts with onsite water electrolysis using wind energy

Colruyt (main retail company in Belgium) has installed in 2015 a hydrogen refueling station with onsite hydrogen production on its main logistics site in Halle (Belgium). The electricity to power the electrolyser comes from onsite wind turbines. The hydrogen is used to power a fleet of hydrogen forklifts. The station has been extended recently and connected to the nearby public refueling station for cars. During the visit, the participants will have the opportunity to see 2 types of electrolysers (alkaline and PEM) in operation, 2 types of hydrogen compressors, 2 types of hydrogen storage, a fleet of hydrogen forklifts in operation, the public hydrogen refueling station and a presentation by Colruyt about their vision on hydrogen in the energy system.
