ACI’s European Clean Ammonia Summit 2026 will be taking place in Cologne on 22–23 April, building directly from two successful editions delivered under the European Green Ammonia Summit name. This evolution reflects how the market has progressed: the platform remains the same trusted meeting place, but the scope has expanded in response to clear industry feedback that blue and low-carbon ammonia pathways are increasingly viewed as the most scalable near-term routes to decarbonisation.
Curated through detailed agenda committee feedback, the 2026 programme is built around the commercial and operational questions now shaping European investment decisions, including:
Regulatory clarity
Enforceable demand signals
Certification frameworks and definitions of “low-carbon”
The practical challenge of moving projects to bankable offtake structures and FID
Policy and market impacts under the microscope, including how the following are influencing commercial models, compliance requirements, and contracting strategy:
RED III national implementation
FuelEU Maritime
EU ETS
IMO
Balancing pathways and capital allocation, examining:
The evolving balance between green and blue ammonia approaches
How differing policy interpretation is shaping investment appetite and where capital is flowing
Additional to last year, the summit will address the delivery realities behind deployment: carbon capture and low-carbon ammonia routes, ammonia cracking and synthesis technologies, maritime engine and bunkering readiness, infrastructure and logistics constraints, and the impact of power pricing and construction capacity on project timelines. These themes build on the grounded discussions from 2025, which brought together organisations including Hy2gen, North Ammonia, OCI, EnBW and Engie
The summit convenes senior stakeholders from across the value chain—developers and producers, energy and hydrogen suppliers, fertiliser producers, ship owners and engine manufacturers, ports and infrastructure operators, technology providers, policymakers and investors—to share experience, compare approaches, and contribute to a pragmatic exchange on what is required to scale clean ammonia in Europe.
Those involved in shaping, financing, regulating, or deploying clean ammonia are invited to join the discussion in Cologne at ACI’s European Clean Ammonia Summit and contribute to a grounded exchange on where the sector is heading and what is required to move projects forward.

Ammonia Europe is the voice of the European ammonia industry and its value chain, with the mission to advance the decarbonisation of the industry and its pivotal role in the transition towards a climate-neutral economy. By 2050, we envisage a decarbonised ammonia industry and uptake of clean ammonia across various sectors of Europe’s climate neutral and resilient economy.
AEAR‘s mission encompasses both the decarbonization of ammonia for existing applications and the adoption of low-carbon ammonia in new applications, involving stakeholders across the entire ammonia value chain. The Association’s primary objective is to provide adequate training and public awareness regarding the potential of renewable ammonia and the need to support this strategic solution so that it becomes part of the renewable energy supply.

EnergyIN, the Competitiveness and Technology Cluster for Energy, is a non-profit cluster association established in 2008, working for the energy sector in Portugal, namely on Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiency, Energy Storage, Fuel Cells and Hydrogen.
EnergyIN was founded by four major Portuguese large companies in the energy sector, EDP – Energias de Portugal, GALP Energia, Efacec and Martifer, plus the MIT Portugal Program, all involved in the development of Hydrogen projects in Portugal and worldwide. Our mission is to promote collaborative works between companies, namely small and medium size, and research institutions, in order to foster technological innovation and competitiveness.
EnergyIN has an annual work programme to implement activities in line with these action programmes and priorities, including networking activities, an annual conference, information on financing programmes for collaborative projects in energy, bilateral meetings for thematic discussions and collaborative project design, and international activities (trade missions and fairs). In the hydrogen sector EnergyIN has participated and organized workshops and seminars since 2009, together with several entities, namely with AP2H2, the Association for the Promotion of Hydrogen in Portugal, a member of our cluster association Consultive Council.
EnergyIN is the Portuguese association member of GHIAA, the Global Hydrogen Industrial Associations Alliance (GHIAA), since 2024. In Europe, EnergyIN has been a regular participant in the FCH JU, the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (nowadays Clean Hydrogen Europe), activities, and a supporting organisation of several international events in the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells sector
