2012 US Senior Open Championship

Indianwood Golf and Country Club, which opened in 1925, was co-designed by Scottish course architects William Connellan and Wilfrid Reid (Reid also designed the famous Olympic Club in San Francisco).  It has hosted the 1989 and 1994 U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championships won by Betsy King and Patty Sheehan, respectively. The goal to host a Major championship at Indianwood will finally be realized as the newly updated “Old” course will be hosting the 2012 U.S. Senior Open Championship.

A little history: The U.S. Senior Open Championship first began in 1980 due to a notable increase in senior golf play. Since then, it has thrived and grown into one of the most revered tournaments in the world whose winner automatically gains entry into the following season’s U.S. Open. Numerous golf legends including Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper and Jack Nicklaus have all taken the U.S. Senior Open title in the past and the 2012 tournament at Indianwood is gearing up to be one of the best ever.
