The U.S. Open will return to Winged Foot Golf Club, in Mamaroneck, NY in 2020. This will be the 6th time Winged Foot has hosted this prestigious event, making it the 3rd most visited course for the U.S. Open.
Winged Foot is known for its spectacular setting and its reputation as one of the premier U.S. Open venues in the nation. Six years after opening in 1923 the course hosted its first U.S. Open Championship, where amateur Bobby Jones delivered one of the biggest shots in championship history. The last time the U.S. Open was hosted by Winged Foot (2006), Phil Michelson had a one-shot lead, when his drive bounced off corporate tents, which ended up being a costly mistake. This resulted with Geoff Ogilvy pulling ahead and winning his first (and only) career major. With an unpredictable course like Winged Foot there is no telling who will be the victor of the 2020 U.S. Open!
