ISM continues to support March of Dimes because there are an estimated 15 million babies (nearly 1 in 10) born pre-term each year worldwide, with over 500,000 occurring in the United States. Not only does this affect the development of the child and put a strain on the family, but pre-term births can lead to long-term health issues that impact quality of life. There are many ways to help babies be born closer to full term, and March of Dimes addresses these issues through several important channels: education for expectant parents, proper prenatal care for mothers, research into the causes of pre-term birth, support for families who experience a pre-term birth, and resources for healthy families. Their work has a national and global impact, which is why we are so honored to support their efforts.
If you’d like to get involved and support March of Dimes, you can donate financially or volunteer your time. Representatives from your local chapter will help you come up with creative ways to get involved, whether that’s volunteering for their annual March for Babies in the spring, gathering supplies for new families, or even helping host military base baby showers.
