Over Halfway Thru on the Way to the 2019 CFC!

The 2018 college football season is just past the halfway mark, and Week 8 offered some predictable outcomes and some surprises too!! Check our brief below (so far!)

The Top

• Top team Alabama is doing so great this season it’s almost unfair. They’ve scored a touchdown on their first possession in every game this season and remain undefeated at 8-0.
• Notre Dame had a bye this week but moved up to second thanks to a punishing Ohio State loss to Purdue.
• Clemson also squeaked up this week to third, not only due to Ohio State’s loss, but the Tigers ran all over NC State, winning 41-7.
• LSU moves in to the top four after beating Mississippi State 19-3. Maybe having their color-changing helmets that took the internet by storm helped?!

Week 8 Surprises

• Purdue broke Ohio State’s undefeated streak this season, crushing the Buckeyes 49-20, along with knocking them out of the top 10.
• While Oklahoma beating TCU isn’t necessarily a surprise, the winning margin was. Also important: Oklahoma continuing to win is one of the necessary components for them to have a shot at being in the Championship.

What to Watch Next Week

• College Football Playoff Rankings – October 30 – Week 10 and beyond gives us the official rankings that will determine who has a shot at winning the College Football Playoff Championship, and you can bet we’ll be keeping a close eye!
• No. 9 Florida at No. 7 Georgia – Two top tens squaring off!
• No. 2 Notre Dame at Navy – We’ll be watching to see if the Irish keep up their undefeated streak, which will be key to keeping several teams out of the top spots.

This season has been filled with chaos, which will lead to some great Conference Championship Games, what should be a tremendous selection of Semi-Finalists, and ultimately, the final two teams which will bring all eyes on Santa Clara come January 7th, 2019!
