Jimmy Roberts has been involved in sports journalism and broadcasting for over 30 years. Currently, he can be seen on the Golf Channel’s original series “In Play with Jimmy Roberts,” during which he explores the best stories in the game of golf, not just professional tour play. He has been awarded many honors during his exciting career, including an award from the Golf Writers Association of America and a staggering 13 Sports Emmy Awards, in categories ranging from writing to best feature to individual achievement.
He is perhaps known best for his recent work on NBC and the Golf Channel as a studio host, interviewer, and writer, but early on he also worked for ABC and ESPN. During his long and storied career, he has covered an impressive number of major sporting events, including the Super Bowl, the NBA Finals, the World Series, and of course, many golf tournaments. He also provided coverage for a jaw-dropping 14 Olympic Games.
In 2009, Jimmy published his first book, Breaking the Slump, which tells the story of how some of the greatest players in the game “as well as one Olympic gold medalist and one former President,” succeeded in overcoming their darkest moments in golf. Breaking the Slump was praised in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Sports Illustrated, among others. Jimmy also provides the voice of Masters.com, the online home of one of golf’s biggest tournaments.
Welcome Jimmy Roberts, we’re excited for you to share your insights with our guests in advance of the 2018 U.S. Open!
