Australian Marc Leishman Wins the 2017 BMW Championship

For the first time in recent memory (at least 6 years), a normally weather-beaten BMW Championship went off without a single drop of rain during the (4) day event! That alone would have been enough to make this last week/weekend a successful event; however, the clear skies, the unusually warm September temperatures in the Chicagoland area and the perfect course conditions at Conway Farms served as just the initial backdrop to a fantastic experience for all ISM clients and guests in attendance!

The penultimate leg of the PGA Tour’s 4-event postseason returned to Lake Forest, IL for the 3rd time in the last 5 years, and once again incredibly low scores ruled the day. Most thought that Australian Jason Day’s record-setting score in 2015 at Conway Farms (-22 to par) would not be approached; little did everyone know that another Australian would best that score as well as one of the toughest fields in golf in 2017! Marc Leishman, who just one week earlier settled for a 3rd place finish in the Boston playoff event, fired a (-9) 62 on Thursday to take the lead and never looked back, winning the 2017 BMW Championship wire-to-wire (firing a -23 to par score) and earning a $1.575M 1st place prize! He’ll go into the Tour Championship next week in Atlanta controlling his own destiny with the chance to win the $10 million FedExCup!
