Event Overview

The 2025 edition of ACI’s Oleofuels Conference brought together more than 270 senior professionals from across the global biofuels and oleochemicals value chain. Over two days of presentations, panel discussions and networking, industry leaders explored how policy, feedstocks, technology and markets are shaping the next phase of low-carbon fuels development.

A Global Industry Gathering

The event welcomed representatives from around 150 companies spanning feedstock producers, biofuel refiners, technology providers, traders, and energy majors. Participants included organisations such as Shell Trading, BP, Galp, Bunge, Darling Ingredients, Clariant, Axens, Sulzer, and Koch Engineered Solutions, reflecting the breadth of the sector and the strong commercial interest in the evolving oleofuels market.

Policy and Regulation in Focus

The conference opened with discussions examining the regulatory landscape shaping the biofuels sector. Speakers from organisations including the European Biodiesel Board and Darling Ingredients analysed the direction of European and US biofuel policies, providing insights into how legislation and market frameworks are influencing investment decisions and industry growth.

Markets, Supply Chains and Feedstock Dynamics

Throughout the programme, speakers addressed the complex global supply chains underpinning the oleofuels market. Presentations explored the outlook for biofuels and feedstocks, the risks facing biodiesel markets, and the challenges of securing sustainable feedstock supply in an increasingly competitive global environment.

Technology Enabling the Energy Transition

Technical sessions highlighted advances in processing technologies supporting renewable fuels production. Industry experts from companies including GEA, Imerys, Alfa Laval and Desmet presented developments in pretreatment processes and plant design that are improving efficiency and enabling the processing of a wider range of feedstocks.

Decarbonising Transport and Aviation

A central theme of the event was the role of biofuels in decarbonising transport. Speakers explored how road transport, aviation and maritime sectors are integrating renewable fuels into their decarbonisation strategies, with discussions on sustainable aviation fuel market outlooks and the economic viability of SAF in the coming years.

Maritime and Hard-to-Abate Sectors

Sessions on the second day examined the growing role of biofuels in marine applications and other hard-to-abate sectors. Industry experts discussed regulatory drivers, compliance requirements and the opportunities for low-carbon fuels to contribute to emissions reduction in global shipping.

Collaboration Across the Value Chain

The conference also provided a valuable forum for collaboration across the biofuels ecosystem. With stakeholders from feedstock supply, refining, technology development, policy and trading all represented, discussions highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to scale sustainable fuels and support the global energy transition.

At the event we strive not only to bring you to the same location at the same time as your customers/suppliers/peers, we strive to ensure you meet face-to-face with each and every one of your target contacts and to provide you with the time you need to have multiple unhurried conversations with them and build a lasting business relationship:

• A pre-event informal introduction the evening before the conference
• A minimum of five hours’ networking built into the two day conference agenda
• A networking grid which enables you to make your target contacts aware you are looking for them
• The option to join either social drinks or dinner during the evening of Day One
• ACI’s on-site team will assist you in locating your hard-to-find target contacts & make face-to-face introductions

Of course, if there is anybody you are unable to meet over the two days, ACI’s event team will do their best to initiate contact after the event.
