Transforming Bridge Watchkeeping standards with VASCO
Aage Hempel Group and Kilo Solutions Limited are redefining how the maritime sector develops and supports Bridge operations at sea.
Our flagship innovation, VASCO – the world’s first untethered VR bridge simulator – brings scalable, immersive training directly to crews, wherever they are in the world.
As the industry pivots to increased simulator time to improve harmonisation, capability and commercial return, traditional approaches are now able to be complemented by VR technology that is proven and in ubiquitous use in other safety critical sectors.
Deployable at sea or ashore, VASCO provides a fully immersive multi-user bridge simulator where training and assessment is conducted appropriate to the operational need. With specific focus on Bridge Resource Management and ColRegs, individual and team competence and confidence is developed to ensure Bridge Watchkeeping standards are maintained, skill fade eradicated, and vessels are operationally confident.
With VASCO, crews benefit from continuous assessment that identifies and addresses skill fade, supports promotion selection, and ensures the right people are in the right roles. HR leaders gain valuable insights into workforce competence, while organisations see measurable improvements in safety, performance, and commercial efficiency.
By reducing travel, harmonising standards, and aligning with ESG goals, VASCO delivers impact beyond training – strengthening crew wellbeing, enhancing retention, and building resilience in an evolving industry.
Already trusted by navies, superyacht operators, and maritime academies worldwide, VASCO is helping organisations future-proof their workforce while reducing operational risk.
Train. Measure. Improve.

The Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA) is a voluntary organisation of the shipowner associations of Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and the Federation of ASEAN Shipowners’ Associations (FASA), comprising shipping associations of ASEAN countries, consisting of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The objectives of the ASA are to act as a channel to convey Asian Shipowners’ voices to the international shipping community as well as to enhance and strengthen the ASA’s stature. At the same time, it is also a platform for all ASA members to liaise with one another and to help promote cooperation, amity and friendship amongst its members. Following the principle agreed at the first Asian Shipowners’ Forum (ASF) meeting which was founded in April 1992 when its first meeting was held at Japan Shipping Club in Tokyo and ASA was formerly named, the venues for the annual meetings have been conducted on a rotational basis by the members from the North to South in geographical order. Between annual ASA meetings, the ongoing work is carried out by five Standing Committees: The Seafarers Committee (SC), the Ship Insurance and Liability Committee (SILC), the Safe Navigation and Environment Committee (SNEC), the Shipping Policy Committee (SPC), and the Ship Recycling Committee (SRC). It has been estimated that ASA shipowners and managers control and operate around 50% of the world’s cargo carrying fleet.
