Kula Bio’s pioneering approach effectively addresses the environmental and economic challenges associated with synthetic fertilizers. While these fertilizers have undeniably revolutionized agricultural productivity, their significant contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions, particularly through the release of N2O. Kula Bio confronts this issue head-on by leveraging advanced biotechnology to engineer nitrogen fixing microbes with the remarkable ability to directly extract nitrogen from the atmosphere. Through strategic enhancements in energy storage mechanisms, Kula Bio’s microbes seamlessly integrate with synthetic fertilizers, providing growers with a compelling alternative option. This exceptional non-GMO biofertilizer represents a versatile solution capable of effectively substituting synthetic nitrogen across diverse crops, soil compositions, and climatic conditions. The nitrogen-fixing capabilities of Kula Bio’s microbes have been rigorously validated through stable isotope research, unequivocally confirming their successful performance and substantial translocation of nitrogen into crop plant biomass. These pivotal findings underscore the profound potential of Kula Bio’s technology in delivering a sustainable and efficient nitrogen source, significantly enhancing crop plant growth and improving yield. Moreover, Kula Bio’s innovative manufacturing platform sets it apart from conventional scape-up bioprocesses. Employing a decentralized and scale-out biomanufacturing model, Kula Bio ensures unparalleled microbial product quality, consistently surpassing industry standards. This forward-thinking approach enables operations at minimum production scales, promoting strong cost competitiveness and unlocking immense commercial potential. By redefining the biofertilizer and biostimulant landscape, Kula Bio’s pioneering platform propels a paradigm shift in the field of commercialized biological solutions, further solidifying its position as an industry leader.

Conformity assessment procedure of EU fertilizers according to Regulation (EU) 2019/1009

According to Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 the EU fertilising products must comply with the requirements of the Regulation before being placed on the EU market. Manufacturers shall ensure that their products meet the safety requirements. Thus, a Notified Body must be involved in the conformity assessment procedures in case of certain EU fertilising products. Our testing and certification scope covers all the EU fertilising products of the Regulation. Conformity assessment procedure for CE-marking.

The conformity assessment procedures under Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 may be chosen by the manufacturers:

Module A: internal production control (Notified Body involvement is not needed)

Module A1:internal production control + supervised product testing

Module B: EU type examination followed by Module C, which is conformity to type based on internal production control

Module D1: quality assurance of the production process

Biostimulants according to the Regulation (EU) No. 2019/1009

Those EU fertilizers can be named as a biostimulant, which fulfil the requirements of the plant biostimulant product function category (PFC6) of the Regulation. The efficacy of these products must be justified with trials according to the CEN/TS 17700:2022 series.
