Subitec offers systems for the industrial cultivation of microalgae and cyanobacteria, as well as the necessary pre-culture- and laboratory systems. We are specialized in industrial production equipment for high value ingredients aiming to maximum productivity and minimum space requirements. Based on 20 years of experience in cultivation, we have meanwhile installed more than 40 plants in nearly every continent allover the world.

For sustainable and high-quality mass production, the production systems must meet the highest standards to deliver continuous product in amount and quality based on a fully automated cultivation system.

Subitec offers industrial plants based on a standard turn-key product “Cultivation Module” that enables individual or stepwise set-up of cultivation systems. One cultivation module has a total cultivation volume of 5.400L and includes all aggregates required for cultivation (e.g. LED, CO2, nutrient input and sensors). The cultivation modules are equipped with special grow light LEDs. (customer spec possible). Several cultivation modules can be networked together to form a production plant in order to achieve the higher plant capacity if required.

The heart of all Subitec systemsis based on the patented Flat Panel Airlift Photobioreactor (FPA). The FPA was specially developed for the industrial production of microalgae and cyanobacteria. Due to the special form, a maximum number of microalgae and cyanobacteria respectively algae ingredients are produced. At the same time, the production resources required – light, CO2, nutrients and temperature – are used far more efficiently than in conventional systems, in less space. Furthermore, the uniform mixing guarantees high controllability of the production. The result is a maximum output per volume with high and stable product quality.

Carniolus was founded in 2014. We design, engineer and construct microalgae production plants based on proprietary bioreactor designs.

We offer LED-powered bioreactors ( 400 & 1000 liters) for R&D purposes and sample production. Our medium and big scale bioreactors are solar powered and collect the sunlight using our patented Light Concentration Panels (LCPs). In addition, we offer a Parallel-Hybrid Bioreactor (1.000 liters) using a combination of our LCP system and LED- power to augment insufficient sunlight in challenging locations. Our big-scale bioreactors of 2m³ and 5 m³ are powered by LCPs only. These bioreactor-types can be combined for plant units of 200 m³ and bigger.

Our plants are equipped with an automatic plant control system enabling single-person plant operation.

Our bioreactor systems are extremely compact and provide the best ratio of plant footprint to algae productivity. A plant yielding approx. 40 tons of algae/ year would require an area of only 1.500 m² of land, incl. infrastructure and downstreamprocessing equipment.

Carniolus can supply a proprietary microfiltration-based algae harvester which operates fully automatic. We can supply a customized process-water recycling-plant which recycles > 95% of the process water, a massive advantage in arid areas.

Carniolus also specializes in poly-unsaturated lipid extraction using organic solvents. We supply colorless, and odor-free EPA and DHA for health food applications and we are developing “Augmented Function” products for end-users who want to simplify healthy nutrition by consuming multi-functional vegan Omega-3 products.

During the Tuesday 26th April afternoon, prior to the conference, a limited number of attendees will receive the unique opportunity to visit the Algalif plant.

Algalíf Iceland is a commercial producer of natural products derived from microalgae. The company was founded in 2012, but began formal operations in Iceland in October 2013. The company is dedicated to solving the nutritional needs of current and future generations and currently produces high-quality astaxanthin, through cultivation of the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. Astalíf™ astaxanthin was the first step in creating microalgae-derived products using an in-house designed tubular photobioreactor (PBR) cultivation system, powered by a proprietary LED lighting system. By using this production method, Algalíf has set new industry benchmarks for astaxanthin production and surpassed industry-accepted maxima of astaxanthin content in algae biomass, as well as the overall process productivity. Algalíf has strong ties to the pristine Icelandic nature and Algalíf´s products benefit from the unique environment in which they are produced. Iceland is one of the most sustainable countries in the world and the Icelandic water is extremely pure, low in minerals and unchlorinated. This is particularly important when using algae for high-value target production, due to the high biosorption capacity of algae. The country generates 100% of its electricity from clean energy, using only 35% of its estimated potential. Algalíf´s harvesting process is very eco-friendly; our production methods allow for close to 0% water evaporation and eliminates the need to cool, heat, or move water during our production process, allowing us to conserve water.

There is no extra charge to attend the site visit, but spaces are limited and allocated to conference delegates on a first come first served basis. Please register your attendance for the site visit when booking for the conference.

At the event we strive not only to bring you to the same location at the same time as your customers/suppliers/peers, we strive to ensure you meet face-to-face with each and every one of your target contacts and to provide you with the time you need to have multiple unhurried conversations with them and build a lasting business relationship:

• A pre-event informal introduction the evening before the conference
• A minimum of five hours’ networking built into the two day conference agenda
• A networking grid which enables you to make your target contacts aware you are looking for them
• The option to join either social drinks or dinner during the evening of Day One
• ACI’s on-site team will assist you in locating your hard-to-find target contacts & make face-to-face introductions

Of course, if there is anybody you are unable to meet over the two days, ACI’s event team will do their best to initiate contact after the event.

ACI is doing everything to ensure that all its events go ahead as advertised, returning to the much-missed and valuable face-to-face interaction as soon as possible.  In order to ensure the events are delivered as safely as possible, venues are chosen and procedures are adjusted in line with the relevant local and regulations and guidelines.

These have been exceptionally challenging times with very fast-moving updates. As we get closer to an event we look at each one individually, paying careful heed to local regulations, but without ignoring the international situation. Whatever happens, ACI will safeguard the investments that attendees have made by either automatically moving it to the new dates of the event or a full credit will be provided for use when booking a future ACI event.
