The European Biostimulants Industry Council (EBIC) was formed in June 2011 to foster the role of the biostimulants sector in helping agriculture to produce more with less. To do this, EBIC advocates an operating environment that creates a truly European market for biostimulants and recognises their contribution to sustainable agricultural production, green innovation, economic growth and other European Union (EU) policy objectives.

Membership is open to biostimulant producers active in Europeinterested in cooperating in areas of common interest.

EBIC provides:

  • A platform for biostimulants producers to discuss points of common interest relating to, but not limited to, technical questions, regulatory issues, public and stakeholder relations and other non-commercial matters;
  • A voice for the biostimulants sector in Europe;
  • Information and expertise on the specificities of biostimulants to European authorities and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Information about the sector that is relevant for the public policy makers and the general public.

Idai Nature was founded in Valencia, Spain at the start of the 21st century, with a misión to offer farmers the possibility of cultivating crops free of chemical residues, but without this supposing any increase in their costs.

Just a few months after being set up, the company was awarded the CAAE certification needed for the production of ecological agricultural products within the EU. The Company has been exporting to Turkey ever since the beginning; and it set up its first branch there, Idai Nature Turkey, in 2011. By the middle of 2012, the company had been awarded the USDA ORGANIC certification required for the marketing of its products in the United States.

Just four years after its founding Idai Nature, had tripled its workforce, was already exporting to 18 countries and had set up a second branch office, Idai Nature America. The company also achieved ISO 9001 & 14001 certification, thereby accrediting its commitment to quality, along with the RD.824/2005 certificate that regulates the marketing of fertilisers, and confirms that they fulfil all the applicable safety requirements and customer guarantees.

In 2014, Idai Nature inaugurated new facilities designed to cater for its material capacity and continuous growth. The opening ceremony was entrusted to Alberto Fabra, the president of the local autonomous government, the Generalitat Valenciana, as an expression of support for the region’s most-innovative business organisation. The company then obtained official licences to export to Morocco, the Republic of Macedonia and Costa Rica; followed by a large expansion in this area and, ultimately, an export list of 34 different countries.

The company was also awarded the EIBT seal of approval, which officially accredits it as an innovative, technology-based organisation, as reflected in its large amount of investment in corresponding initiatives.

At the end of 2014, the company’s products were included in the OMRI list, the most-complete international directory of products designed for organic agriculture. ECOCERT certification was likewise awarded, thereby guaranteeing the conformity of the company’s products for use in environmentally sustainable agriculture.
