ACI’s Battery Recycling Europe conference will take place on 1st-2nd March 2023 in London, UK. The conference will bring together Battery Recycling industry experts, collection scheme operators and battery manufacturers to learn, share and discuss the current and emerging topics in the Battery Recycling industry.

The two-day event will give you an insight on the latest EU regulations, newest recycling technologies, and commercial benefits of battery recycling. Duesenfeld – Licensing ecofriendly lithium-ion battery recycling

Duesenfeld is a pioneer in the recycling of lithium-ion batteries and has developed processes that do not require the batteries to be smelted or treated at high temperatures. Since the beginning, our processes have focused on being environmentally friendly, avoiding CO2 and achieving the highest recycling efficiency.

Low energy recycling process

The Duesenfeld process with mechanical shredding of the batteries and further hydrometallurgical processing of the black mass is a low temperature process. During mechanical shredding and inactivation of the batteries, the drying process takes place below 80°C and at a very low vacuum. Only under these conditions is no exhaust gas scrubbing necessary. Only in this temperature range can also the solvents of the electrolyte, the graphite and the lithium be recovered in a purity so that it can be reused. Through this technology, Duesenfeld combines environmental friendliness with maximum economic efficiency.

Higher added value through higher Recycling Efficiency

With a 91% recycling rate at battery cell level, the Duesenfeld process is the leader in the recycling market. In this process, the active materials are reprocessed to such a high degree of purity that they can directly find a new use in industry. During mechanical processing, no additives are added to the process that interfere later in the process.

Licensing of the Duesenfeld processes for ecofriendly recycling

Duesenfeld recycles batteries on an industrial scale to realise industry-related research and development in order to be able to map future trends at an early stage. Duesenfeld is not a plant manufacturer. Our business is the licensing of our processes and patents. Our licensing partners are car manufacturers, battery manufacturers, chemical companies, automotive suppliers and recycling companies. Together with our cooperation partners from the plant manufacturing industry, turnkey plants for ecofriendly lithium-ion battery recycling are realised for our customers using the Duesenfeld process.
