The 2021 European Base Oils & Lubricants Summit

Date: 17th November 2021 - 18th November 2021 Location: Amsterdam - The Netherlands

Market Activity, The Future of Mobility, Better Fuel Economy, Sustainability & Pioneering Tribology

ACI’s European Base Oils & Lubricants Summit regularly attracts a targeted audience of 100-150 who come together to focus purely on the European market for two days. We will discuss the most pressing challenges, exciting opportunities & fascinating developments. External factors have been at the forefront of our minds for the past few months but there are also many matters specific to the industry that also require attention.

We have seen base oil plant shutdowns at the end of 2019, tariffs on Group II base oils and an excess of Group III on the market. Challenges ahead which must be addressed include the impending talent gap, unsubstantiated claims in lubricant marketing & improving the sustainability of the industry.

There are always new opportunities to be grasped and 2021 is certainly no different. Whether you are looking at how you can meet the increased demand for lower viscosity automotive lubricants, sourcing partners for your new renewable portfolio of products or identify potential avenues for your business to penetrate niche markets, this event will present you many of the tools you will need to ensure you are in the best position to enhance your business strategy and drive it forward.

ChainCraft is a leading company in the development of sustainable medium chain fatty acids (MCFA). These C4-C8 fatty acids are produced by fermentation of organic waste via a proprietary process. With this technology, the company helps to reduce the environmental burdens of waste incineration and landfilling and can also offer sustainable, low cost versions of several important fatty acids. These specific fatty acids can be used in a variety of existing and new applications in a.o. animal feed, lubricants, plasticizers, polymers, herbicides and flavors and fragrances. Most important fatty acid in the product range is caproic acid, a unique acid which is typically highly priced and scarcely available.

Since 2019, ChainCraft is operating a commercial demonstration plant with an annual production capacity of 2,000 ton of fatty acids. A full scale flagship plant with an annual capacity of 20,000 ton of MCFA per year is planned for 2024. ChainCraft is actively looking for downstream partners to jointly innovate towards new and improved uses of these fatty acids, such as new polyol ester lubricants.

  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

At the event we strive not only to bring you to the same location at the same time as your customers/suppliers/peers, we strive to ensure you meet face-to-face with each and every one of your target contacts and to provide you with the time you need to have multiple unhurried conversations with them and build a lasting business relationship:

• A pre-event informal introduction the evening before the conference
• Over five and a half hours of networking built into the two day conference agenda including an evening drinks reception sponsored by Lubrizol
• A networking grid which enables you to make your target contacts aware you are looking for them
• ACI’s on-site team will assist you in locating your hard-to-find target contacts & make face-to-face introductions

Of course, if there is anybody you are unable to meet over the two days, ACI’s event team will do their best to initiate contact after the event.

ACI is doing everything to ensure that all its events go ahead as advertised, returning to the much-missed and valuable face-to-face interaction as soon as possible.  In order to ensure the events are delivered as safely as possible, venues are chosen and procedures are adjusted in line with the relevant local and regulations and guidelines.

These have been exceptionally challenging times with very fast-moving updates. As we get closer to an event we look at each one individually, paying careful heed to local regulations, but without ignoring the international situation. Whatever happens, ACI will safeguard the investments that attendees have made by either automatically moving it to the new dates of the event or a full credit will be provided for use when booking a future ACI event.
