17th Ballast Water Management Conference

Date: 29th March 2017 - 30th March 2017 Location: Miami - Florida - USA

Essential Preparation for the Imminent BWM Convention Entering Into Force in 2017

The IMO Ballast Water Convention is imminent. On 8th September 2016, Finland announced ratification of the BWM Convention, meaning that the IMO regulation will be enforced from 8th September 2017. Ship owners will be required to implement BWT Systems and a Ballast Water Management plan on vessels. It is estimated that over $45 billion will be spent in the 5 years following enforcement. The cost, installation and operation of BWT Systems is of serious concern to the industry. It is estimated that Finland are due to sign the BWM convention late in 2016 which will see the regulation be entered into force one year later, making the timing of this conference critical.

ACI’s 17th Ballast Water Management Summit will provide essential, expert guidance to shipowner/operators on how to prepare for and manage the BWT Systems in terms of installation and technical operations, as well as advice on compliance, PSC and regulation once the convention is in place.

Following the success of our BWM conference in USA in 2016, we are pleased to announce that we will be returning to provide a learning and networking platform for the US shipping industry on BWM. Special focus will be on the USCG Regulations, US EPA Vessel General Permit, and how Shipowners/managers and BWTS Manufacturers can deal with the regulation in terms of selecting, operating, testing and remaining compliant.
