15th Ballast Water Management Summit

Date: 13th July 2016 - 14th July 2016 Location: Singapore

With the IMO Ballast Water Convention close to the critical 35% of world tonnage, it is largely expected that the convention will be triggered and enter into force in 2016. Once enforced, ship owners will be required to implement BWT Systems on vessels. It is estimated that over $45 billion will be spent in the 5 years following enforcement. The cost, installation and operation of BWT Systems is of serious concern to the industry.

ACI’s 15th Ballast Water Management Summit will provide essential, expert guidance to shipowner/operators on how to prepare for and manage the BWT Systems in terms of selection, installation and technical operations, as well as advice on compliance, PSC and regulation once the convention is in place.  The conference will also address Type Approval and system excellences for the BWT System Manufaturers.

Hyde Marine, Inc. is a world leader in UV ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) designed to prevent the spread of non-indigenous aquatic organisms. The company has more than 30 years experience in diverse water treatment solutions and UV technology.

Through its Hyde GUARDIAN® BWTS, Hyde Marine was one of the first suppliers of a safe, chemical free UV disinfection solution to receive IMO Type Approval in 2009. Hyde Marine was one of the first to receive Alternative Management System (AMS) approval from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). Additionally, the company installed one of the first BWTS aboard a ship (M/S Coral Princess), which subsequently was the first BWTS in the USCG’s Shipboard Technology Evaluation Program (STEP).

Launched in 2014, the Hyde GUARDIAN Gold™ BWTS has the smallest footprint in the market, an optimized operator interface and is updated to meet current regulatory requirements. The Hyde GUARDIAN Gold BWTS allows for reduced ballast time, continuous and increased flow to ballast tanks and reduction in peak power requirements.

Hyde Marine now leads the ballast water treatment market with over 50 retrofit units installed.  With more than 400 systems sold, the Hyde GUARDIAN BWTS is suitable for a broad range of treatment requirements and can be installed in new builds or retrofitted in-situ to existing vessels with no downtime.  Hyde Marine continues to build global relationships with reliable and proven authorized engineering and installation partners.  Its strong presence, reputation, and experience in the BWTS market is proof of Hyde Marine’s combined expertise and commitment to excellence.

Ulmatec Pyro is a leading supplier and manufacturer of heating and waste treatment systems for the marine industry, backed by solid experience and customer feedback built up since 1951. More than 15.000 ships worldwide have been equipped with Pyro™ hot water heating systems to date.

The focus the last decade has been to mobilize waste energy on board vessels and rigs, recovering otherwise wasted energy, instead of using high-grade energy in the form of oil or gas.

The Pyro Waste Energy Management System, which utilises waste energy from engine cooling and exhaust systems, can be used for a variety of purposes to enable substantial fuel and cost savings to be made, in addition to the major environmental benefits.

60 – 75% of the waste energy can be utilized, and Ulmatec Pyro claims that this is the most important energy saving invention since the marine industry moved from steam engines to diesel engines.

Among the latest developments is a system generating clean emission-free electricity from waste heat recovery, ballast water treatment, and a flexible and cost-effective cooling system.

Ulmatec Pyro is a part of the Ulmatec group and located at Gamlem near Ålesund on the west coast of Norway.
