The Indian Private Ports & Terminals Association – (IPPTA) is an industry association of private ports and terminal operators at Major ports in the country. IPPTA has been formed to address the need to create a strong representative body of private players, in a sector which has seen the most successful PPP mode of infrastructure development in India today.

IPPTA was set up in 2003 and registered under the Indian Societies Act, with the objective to establish, protect and safeguard the rights, privileges, benefits of and available to private ports and terminals operators.

IPPTA, currently, has a membership of 18 companies who are global port operators. Members of IPPTA, since the commencement of port privatization initiatives in the country in 1997, have invested more than Rs. 16,000 crores in the sector. IPPTA has been cooperating with the central and state governments. for developing a vibrant maritime industry in the country. It also provides a forum for the private operators to interact with each other and formulate joint strategies for the removal of difficulties and impediments coming in the way of their successful functioning.
