Why safe and clean practices off the beach will become the norm
Join ACI’s 6th Ship Recycling Congress taking place on 24th & 25th January 2018 in London, UK and hear key industry experts share their experience and insights on the recent developments in the ship recycling industry.
Ingvild Jenssenis, Director & Founder of the NGO Shipbreaking Platform will give a presentation entitled “Turning points: why safe and clean practices off the beach will become the norm”, focusing on:
• The added value of the EU Ship Recycling Regulation
• Raised awareness and the engagement of new stakeholders
• Calls to effectively close existing loopholes
Ingvild Jenssenis is the Director and Founder of the NGO Shipbreaking Platform, a global coalition of environmental, human rights and labour rights non-governmental organisations working for safe and clean ship recycling. She has since 2005 been the Platform’s spokesperson and represented the coalition in negotiations and advocacy work at the United Nations and European level. Ingvild has also contributed to several publications on the shipbreaking issue and visited the shipbreaking yards in India, Bangladesh, Turkey and Belgium. She holds a MSc in Political Science from the University of Oslo.
Henning Gramann, CEO of GSR Services GmbH will participate in panel discussion entitled “Advancements in Ensuring Ship Recycling Standards”, focusing on:
• Controlling of leakages in and out of intertidal zones
• Operations updates from built structures
• Ensuring the availability of rapid accesses for emergency equipment
• International Standards for downstream waste management
Henning holds a degree as Environmental Engineer Diplomingenieur, Dipl.-Ing.) and is engaged in various fields of maritime environmental protection since the year 2000. He is an internationally recognized expert for all aspects of green ship recycling and has established GSR Services GmbH (Green Ship Recycling Services) for supporting all stakeholders for their cost effective preparation and fulfillment of Hong Kong Convention and EU-Regulation on Ship Recycling. In addition he’s guest professor at the World Maritime University (WMU).
