Always Dreaming wins the 143rd Kentucky Derby

Heavy storms and muddy tracks couldn’t slow down the crowds or the excitement at the 143rd edition of the Kentucky Derby!  A wide-open field to start the race saw Always Dreaming challenged early, break away from the pack after the final turn, and then hang on to win the Run for the Roses!  Lookin’ at Lee, considered a long shot entering the gate, ran a strong race to finish 2 ¾ lengths behind, while Battle of Midway finished 3rd.  A full field of 20 horses started the race for just the 3rd time since 2008, and this was the 2nd Kentucky Derby win for horse trainer Todd Pletcher.
